Killoluaig Gable Shrine

This photograph was taken in Ireland several kilometres off the Ring of Kerry road in the townland of Killoluaig between Cahersiveen and Portmagee. The structure is referred to as a Coptic style shrine or gabled shrine and contains the relics of a saint possibly eighth century. Visible within the shrine are a collection of scallop shells these were carried by pilgrims and left in or around the shrine.
